Back To The Maritimes At Last - August 14 - September 12, 2021

We had been talking for some time with our friends Jane & Michel about the best time and direction to head out for some wandering. We were all anxious to get away again after being largely grounded for more than a year by the COVID-19 pandemic. So far we had managed to grab a weekend in Long Sault for a bit of a shakedown.

We considered the Bas St. Laurent & Gaspé region of Quebec but the big tug was coming from the Maritimes. We heard that New Brunswick was opening to fully vaccinated travellers from Canada so we got together for breakfast on July 4th to see what we could line up. We were able to book 5 days at the Headquarters Campground at the Fundy National Park starting Sunday, August 15th. We (Rod & Lillian) have stayed here a number of times. We next started checking around St. Andrews By-The-Sea which is a long time haunt of Jane & Michel. Jane had been in touch with the Kiwanis Oceanfront Camping where they usually set up camp to find out they were not taking reservations from outside the maritimes. We decided to check out Island View Campground which is on the road in to St. Andrews. We were able to book 5 nights there each.

That left finding somewhere to stop on the way down. We checked Camping St-Basile just past Edmundston, NB and managed to book the night of August 14 so we are all set.

Around the end of July Jane noticed the Oceanfront Camping were taking bookings for August so we were able to move there for the last 3 days.

The plan after that is not as clear. Jane and Michel may stay another day or so in St. Andrews before heading home and back to work while we will be moving on presuming things remain open. All going well we will move on into Nova Scotia to visit our favourite haunts and pay a visit to Rod's brother in Lunenburg county.
